    The National Visa Center (NVC) is responsible for processing paperwork for immigrant visas (IVs).

    After USCIS approves the immigrant visa petition, it is forwarded to the NVC for pre-processing of the visa application.

    The NVC performs the following actions:

    2. Collects the visa application and supporting documentation.

    3. Holds the visa petition until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

    The NVC also processes forms I-600, I-600A, I-800, and I-800A, which are used for adoption of an orphan by a United States citizen (IR-3 and IR-4 categories). It also handles form I-360 for the EB-4 visa and some other special immigrant categories, as well as form I-526 for the EB-5 visa.
